Michael P. Cullen has such a hauntingly awesome voice. His music reminds me a lot of a combination between Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen. It's that same genre, that same darkness, that same beat. 'Believer' has a beat that makes you think it's a peppy and happy song, but Cullen's deep voice makes it more sinister. This music is a throwback sound and is something I'd have danced to in the goth clubs of the 90s.

about
Michael P Cullen and the Soul Searchers recorded live in the art deco splendour of the Lazybones Lounge in Marrickville, an inner Western suburb of Sydney, deliver a performance which is emotionally charged, intense and cinematic.
The Soul Searchers led by all round independent music legend, TimEbandit Powles on drums, percussion and vocals and featuring top shelf sidemen, Craig Wilson on keyboards, Andy Sharpe on bass and James Harland-Wright on guitar.
Believer is the second single from the forthcoming Live at Lazybones EP. Believer originally featured on the acclaimed True Believer album, this version is recorded live in Sydney by Michael P Cullen and the Soul Searchers at the Lazybones Lounge in Marrickville.
Believer is a magic pudding of a song full of yearning and longing with western flavourings and tinges of Northern Soul, a punk shortbread base and lashings of gothic regret. The vision is all cinemascope and the sound faithfully captures Michael P Cullen and the Soul Searchers in full flight.
